New Team Member
We are thrilled to introduce Marine as the newest member of the UpsideDown Moments team!
Marine recently relocated to Leesburg from Boston and brings over 10 years of experience in travel operations and marketing. She is passionate about using her organizational, communication, and event planning skills to support volunteers dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of foster youth, at risk youth, and young adults that have aged out of foster care.
She strongly believes in the power of connecting people with meaningful experiences and is committed to being a resource and support system for all our amazing volunteers.
Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Marine! We are excited to have her on board and look forward to the incredible work we'll accomplish together.
Volunteer of the Month
We're excited to highlight Vahita Kanteti, featured on the far right of the photo, as UpsideDown Moments' Volunteer of the Month! She generously attended three of our packing events, a sorting event, and the Super Saturday Celebration. Her dedication and enthusiasm have made a huge difference in our efforts. Thank you, Vahita, for your amazing support and commitment!
Thank You for Making Our Seasonal Blessings Event a Success!
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who contributed to the success of our Seasonal Blessings Event! We were able to serve over 300 children!
First and foremost, a huge thank you to Floris UMC for graciously hosting and coordinating the event. Your support and dedication made everything possible.
Thank you to The Loudoun County Social Collective for donating hundreds of bags to hold the clothing to be donated.
To the incredible volunteers who helped distribute on the day of the event, and to the amazing team of about 30 volunteers who participated in our four packing events to prepare the bags of clothing—your time and effort are deeply appreciated. We couldn't have done it without you!
We also want to extend our sincere thanks to the many individuals who donated clothing, especially those who stepped up to provide urgently needed sizes at the last minute. Your generosity made a real difference in the lives of those we serve.
A special shout-out to the two consignment shops, St. Theresa's Littles Flower Shop and Kid Connection Pop-Up by Kimberly Dellatorra that donated clothing—your contributions added greatly to the success of the event. Additionally, thank you to Tree of Life for providing a discount for much needed last minute clothing for the event.
Together, we've made a positive impact on our community. Thank you all for turning moments into blessings!
We're thrilled to announce that we're now collecting toys and gifts for the holiday season! Once again, we'll be hosting our annual free shopping event on December 14th for young adults who have aged out of foster care. This special event gives them the opportunity to shop for gifts for their children and have them beautifully wrapped. We've added some fantastic and popular toy and gift items to our Amazon wishlist, but you're also welcome to choose your own gifts to donate. We kindly ask that all gifts be dropped off or delivered by December 12th to ensure they're ready in time for the event. When purchasing the gift from our wishlist you will be given the option to have it delivered to the UDM address. Your generosity will make this holiday season truly memorable for these families. Thank you for your continued support!
Thank You to Vine and Fig Church!
We were delighted to have Vine and Fig Church join us for their service day to help sort through donations. Your hard work and community spirit made a big difference! Included in the picture is Vahita, who proudly received her UpsideDown Moments shirt for completing 10 hours of service and is our volunteer of the month!
Thank you all for your amazing support!
A Huge Thank You to Kirsten!
We are incredibly grateful to Kirsten Barger for running a book drive that donated $420 worth of books to UpsideDown Moments. As a PaperPie Brand Partner, she coordinated with EmpowerMe to collect amazing titles of our choice from Usborne and Kane Miller. These books will make a significant impact on the lives of those we serve. Thank you, Kirsten, for your generosity and dedication!
A Huge Thank You to Our Boy Scouts Volunteers!
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to two amazing Boy Scouts who spent 5 hours transporting donations, sorting clothing and taking inventory! Your dedication and hard work have made a big difference in our community. Thank you for your service and for making the world a better place, one good deed at a time!
