Reflecting on the meaningful activities and events that unfolded in January, UpsideDown Moments is grateful for the incredible impact we were able to achieve. As we took part in heartwarming initiatives and collaborated with our community, the past month was filled with opportunities to continue our mission of ensuring every child in our community has what they need. Together, we made a positive impact and look forward to continuing our journey of compassion and support. Read ahead to see details of what occurred at the start of this fresh new year!

New Board Member

Adrianna Boyer joins UpsideDown Moments as Board Member and Advocacy Coordinator

We are thrilled to announce Adrianna Boyer has joined the UpsideDown Moments board as our Advocacy Coordinator. Adrianna resides in Sterling, VA with her 2 children Schueyler and Phoenix. She currently works for CACI as a Sales Administrator. She volunteers on a panel for future foster parents in training. Adrianna is a former foster youth; she was in care from the ages of 12-21. She is dedicated to providing a critical role on the board for UpsideDown Moments, for current and former foster youth. She hopes to share her experience, establish resources, and build skills to help others become independent after aging out of foster care. In her free time, Adrianna enjoys reading, shopping, watching movies, writing, and spending time with her kids.

We are so excited to see the impact you have on our mission Adrianna!

Girl Scout Troop 2212 hosts Collection Drive for UpsideDown Moments

Girl Scout Troop 2212 has truly exemplified the spirit of giving back by spearheading a collection drive for UpsideDown Moments! These young leaders worked to gather a variety of essential items, including toys, hygiene products, games, and books. Their dedication and commitment to positively impacting the lives of those in need have left a positive mark on our community. The troop's initiative not only showcases the power of youth-driven philanthropy but also underscores the importance of community engagement and compassion. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the incredible girls of Troop 2212 for their selfless efforts in spreading joy and support to those UpsideDown Moments serves.

Volunteers help sort donations to keep UpsideDown Moments' space usable

We had a wonderfully successful Sorting Event this month thanks to our volunteers! Keeping our space organized and usable ensures we are able to best serve the needs of our community and get the items needed to them. Thank you to those that attended our sorting event this month!

Foster parent received essential items

Gratitude abounds as our community's generosity shines through once again! In response to an urgent call, we swiftly rallied to support a foster parent. The outpouring of kindness resulted in a bounty of essentials, including diapers, a baby bouncer, a baby carrier, and more. Going above and beyond, we ensured the baby and the teen newly in her care had two weeks' worth of clothing, setting the stage for a warm and welcoming home. It's moments like these that showcase the true power of collective compassion. Thank you for supporting those in need!

Inaugural Fundraiser Dinner at Delirium Cafe

First Fundraising Dinner Was a Success!

Thank you to all those who attended and to Chef Curtis and the Delirium Staff!

UpsideDown Moments achieved a resounding success with our inaugural fundraising dinner held at the charming Delirium Cafe in Leesburg. The evening was a gathering of community members, supporters, and friends, all coming together to make a positive impact. We raised significant funds to further our mission of supporting children in foster care, at-risk youth, and young adults transitioning from foster care. The delightful atmosphere at Delirium, coupled with the shared commitment to making a difference, made this event a memorable success. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and made this evening an inspiring testament to the power of community support.

Scout dedicated hours moving items in the snow

Blake, a Scout, not only made a significant clothing donation to UpsideDown Moments but also went above and beyond by spending hours on a snowy day transporting these essential items to our organized space. His commitment to supporting our cause, even in adverse weather conditions, reflects a remarkable dedication to making a positive impact in the community. Blake's actions embody the spirit of giving, demonstrating that a single person's efforts can create ripples of positivity that touch the lives of many. We are profoundly grateful for Blake's selflessness and the warmth he has brought to UpsideDown Moments.

UpsideDown Moments in search of permenant location

Can You Help Us Find Our New Home?

As our commitment to the community deepens, UpsideDown Moments is actively seeking a new space to further enhance our impact. This space will serve as a haven for our donation items, allowing us to efficiently organize and distribute essential resources to those in need. It will also become a space for our free shopping days. By providing a dedicated, versatile space, UpsideDown Moments aims to amplify the positive change we bring to the lives of those we serve, fostering a brighter future for all.

Elementary students created hygiene bags through the Kids Give Back initiative

The Next Generation of Volunteer Leaders

A Kids Give Back group of elementary students, recently orchestrated an initiative for UpsideDown Moments. Together, they assembled 24 hygiene bags, each filled with essentials to provide comfort and care to those in need. These children are a shining example of how even the smallest acts of kindness can create a significant impact. Their dedication to giving back at such a young age is not only inspiring but also a testament to the positive change that can be achieved through collective efforts. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Kids Give Back group for their generosity and compassionate spirit.
